Household hazardous waste, or HHW for short, are leftover household products used in the home, garage or garden that can catch fire, react, or explode under certain circumstances, or that are corrosive or toxic. They can cause serious safety and health problems and require proper disposal. These materials should not be placed in your trash. Instead, Monroe County, PA residents can bring these materials to Monroe County Municipal Waste Management Authority’s HHW Collection Events. This is a residential program for Monroe County, PA residents ONLY. We accept items from your household that have been used for household purposes ONLY. Businesses are NOT eligible and must contact a hazardous waste hauler for proper disposal. These events are partially funded by grants from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture.
